Mobile Home Furnaces

Thinking of getting a new mobile home furnace? There are some things you
should know.
Manufactured or mobile home furnaces are considerably
different from standard home furnaces. The
correct system must be chosen to suit your particular home. This should
be a furnace which is designed for use in a manufactured home. These
homes have considerably smaller air ducts and sharp, tight corners
which does not allow air to flow as easily and freely as in
an ordinary house.
Many manufactures who make standard home furnaces also make
furnaces suited to mobile homes. When you are looking at a
new furnace you should be aware that mobile home furnaces use a
different system of ratings than those of a standard home. Mobile home
furnaces are installed differently and have different ducting and
venting systems than standard homes.
The ducting system, of necessity, is considerably smaller than that of
a standard home. Standard home furnaces are not designed for use in
mobile homes and can produce dangerous conditions if installed therein
mistakenly. Mobile home furnaces use what is known as a sealed
combustion venting system which is quite different from a standard
furnace.
For greatest efficiency the furnace heat vents in the mobile home
should be installed around the external walls. This is particularly
necessary in areas of cold climate. The sealed combustion heating units
draw in outside air and do not release any fumes into the home. Air
comes into the home via vents in the outside walls, ceiling
or floors. The intake and exhaust units are sealed to prevent escape of
air.
